Joseph T. Gibson served as the 7th Vice President of Liberia from January 6, 1868-January 3, 1870 during James S. Payne first tenure as President of Liberia. Gibson was a member of Liberia’s Republican Party, whose candidates won several presidential elections before the 1877 election which ushered in the True Whig Party political dominance of the Liberian presidency until the April 12, 1980 coup d’état.
